Artesian well drilling in Dori
The initiative addresses the chronic water deficit in Séno province, where rural residents currently travel over eight kilometres to access uncontaminated groundwater. The works encompass geotechnical drilling down to 95 metres, stainless steel casing, and the commissioning of a submersible pump powered by solar arrays.
Daily operation is managed by a village water committee trained in flow monitoring and valve servicing. Water is piped to an elevated 15,000-litre storage tank connected to four public distribution stands serving both local households and pastoral herds.
Hydrogeological surveys completed prior to excavation confirmed groundwater resilience, with an estimated steady yield of 4.5 cubic metres per hour even during peak dry season conditions.
