Idrogea was founded in Valencia in 2004, when three hydraulic engineering practices that had been following cooperation projects on a voluntary basis joined forces. It employs 34 people across its head office and its field offices, and works along two lines: drilling and equipping deep boreholes, and distributing household filtration systems where the water table cannot be reached.
Each site is handed over to a local water committee, which is trained in routine maintenance and keeps a record of flow rates.
