Oral rehydration therapy posts in Hodeidah
The collapse of urban sewage infrastructure in coastal Hodeidah paired with intense heat regularly triggers cholera flare-ups that inundate functioning hospitals. This project establishes ten rapid oral rehydration posts (ORPs) in peripheral health rooms.
Each post is stocked with WHO-standard oral rehydration salts, emergency intravenous Ringer’s Lactate bags for severe dehydrations, and sodium dichloroisocyanurate tablets to disinfect patient home cisterns.
Community health workers compile daily admissions logs and relay epidemiologic indicators to the provincial surveillance team to localize contagion clusters early.
