Surgical kits for the operating theatre in Mocha

Location and Country: Mocha, Taiz Governorate · Yemen

Responsible organization:Médecins Sans Frontières Italy

Mocha, on the Red Sea coast in Taiz Governorate, lies close to front lines, and the other surgical facilities in the area are hours away by road. The project supplies the operating theatre of a hospital in the town that receives wounded patients and surgical and obstetric emergencies.

Each kit holds the sterile instruments, drapes and single-use material needed for one operation. The hospital pharmacy records stock and consumption per operating theatre, so that reordering follows the actual number of operations. The unit follows the equivalences the organization states, between 50 euros for 3 kits and 130 euros for 7 kits.

The goal, progress and updates on this page are demonstration figures, not data reported by Médecins Sans Frontières.
